Kuljit pioneered the worldwide Bhangra phenomenon. Following in the footsteps of his famous singer mother Mohinder Kaur Bhamra , he composed, produced and recorded many international hits which led to the creation of the Bhangra dance scene. Combining traditional Punjabi rhythms, with western instruments and multitrack recording techniques, Kuljit created a production style that resulted in the rise to fame of many Bhangra and Bollywood stars including Mangal Singh, Bali Brambhat, Sangeeta and Vibha’.
In 1987 John Peel (BBC Radio DJ) presented Kuljit with a platinum disc award for outstanding record sales.
Kuljit’s own labe Keda Records boasts a superb catalogue of over fifty albums by the most popular British Asian singers and musicians.
